First thing the steels were delivered. The shorter one being for the bifold support, the longer ones for knocking through between the house and extension.

Internal wall knock through begins.

The left hand side (as facing the rear of the house) is the more straightforward side, so blockwork has been removed in readiness for the padstone that the supporting steel will sit on. Left hand side viewed from the other side. The right hand side is more involved as there used to be a window in place before the extension was added. So this has been blocked up again in order for the padstone to sit on. Right hand side again, viewed from the other side.

Kitchen full removal and Nest.

To get ready for the internal wall between the kitchen and dining room to be removed, what was left of the kitchen had to be removed.... Including this lovely, sunk in counter deep fat fryer (bleurgh). Units gone! Floor tiles gone, back slightly broken. We've had a 2nd gen (heating only) Nest thermostat for ages, which we were very happy with. So as part of this refurb we are moving the 2nd gen to control the new underfloor heating and installing a new 3rd gen Nest that then covers heating and hot water as the old water programmer was crap. This is the original 2nd gen wiring. Hot water programmer wiring: Aaaand I forgot to take a picture of the completed Nest 3rd gen wiring!

Kitchen design - finalised and locked in.

This gives an idea of what the final layout will be. The planner software isn't great (for example the kitchen sink seems to span into the dishwasher), but gives an idea.
